  1. Lily Parmenter's rating of the film Tampopo

Covid movie marathon part... 12? That was delightful. I started tearing up at the end when Tampopo finally mastered the art of ramen and re-opens her shop. It would have been a perfect film even without all the other vignettes woven in, but they made it even funnier and more fun to watch! I had so much FUN watching this movie. And yes, now I want to eat ramen, obviously. Better yet, learn to cook it.

  2. kinotopia's rating of the film Tampopo

When the distributors that be decide there's a cultural shortage they may dig up something from the past and rebrand it as a lost treasure. "Tampopo" has got a lot of high end promotion over the past several years as a more accessible version of the offbeat Japanese cinema that Seijun Suzuki popularized. It's not a bad movie, just way over-hyped. Decent intro to live action for American fans of Studio Ghibli.

  3. Gera Miranda's rating of the film Tampopo

I watched this movie and a couple of years later opened up a ramen shop, no comments.

  4. lukas.h.p's rating of the film Tampopo

The movie lacks some strong female charackters. That's its only flaw. It made me laugh, it made me hungry, it made me horny. Great Comedy.

  7. Effendi Ben Smith-Malick's rating of the film Tampopo

Excellent movie. Protip: don't watch it hungover because it just becomes special torture involving the desire for Ramen but inability to keep it in.

  8. Disa's rating of the film Tampopo

so so heartwarming and make me dwell in hunger all over again (I literally just ate a bowl of oden).

  9. Dominic Simard-Jean's rating of the film Tampopo

Didn't know cinema could be that sweet, tender, amusing, comforting, funny, beautiful, poetic, romantic and, of course, tasty. It just left me with that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Rarely a film has made me feel better about life. And now, i'm so fucking hungry for a good bowl of ramen soup.

  11. Johnny Mislow's rating of the film Tampopo

  12. Sophie's rating of the film Tampopo

One of my all-time favorites. Playful, sensual, and so ahead of its time: meta humor in the opening scene(!), weird little side plots, sexy intermezzos, the best shots of food ever seen in a film. An ode to both filmmaking and food, a feast for the senses.

  13. Name Not Given's rating of the film Tampopo

'Tampopo,' like 'Ratatouille,' understands food. It is also hilarious.

  18. Wee Hunk's rating of the film Tampopo

Food porn. Assorted vignettes tied together by food. There's the Rocky story. That's the main story. The sex story happens a couple of times. I do like the fact that they ask forgiveness of the animal in that beginning vignette.

  19. tazkiatia (wildflowrr)'s rating of the film Tampopo

Tampopo is one of the great film-work that consist of lots of values on the narrative execution. A satirical-comedy using 'food' to deliver the values about humanity, hard-work, human sexual desire, greediness, prosperity, all basic people lust because the basic human need is to be satisfied. I can write a long essay and thesis about this whole movie, but right now I just craving a bowl of ramen.
