Fatih Akin est doué pour saisir avec sensibilité les tensions entre l’Est et l’Ouest, ce qui l’a rendu chouchou des festivals. Dans ce film, il livre un point de vue très assuré d’un épisode historique tragique. Un récit épique sur la survie qui salue les westerns de John Ford.
