While writing a screenplay for Hollywood, a filmmaker finds herself increasingly dissatisfied and places herself under the tutelage of Pablo, an Argentinean tango dancer living in Paris. As the lessons proceed, they make a deal: if he will make her a tango dancer, she will make him a movie star.

Spinning between Buenos Aires and Paris, Sally Potter’s electrifying exploration of artistic agency tiptoes on the edge of reality and imagination, as the director playfully performs a version of herself. Sparsely staged, the stylized tango dances overflow with unspoken desires and sensuality.
