Agarrando pueblo

Luis Ospina, Carlos Mayolo Colombie, 1977

Nino Lasso's rating of the film The Vampires of Poverty

A funny and well-thought mockumentary, possibly the best that has been made in Colombia, spawned thanks to terrible helmers, social turmoil and plenty of grudges. Taken aback by the success of a certain trend of non-fiction films, Ospina and Mayolo pay a visit to the country's capital to poke and satirize the foreign craving of third-world poverty displays, coining the term "pornomiseria" while they're at it.
