This is the thing that got me into Japanese art. Unlike other animated series, its scenography shows no modesty at all, it's basically flawless. Up to this day it remains one of my favorite anime. PS: I like the fact that whoever was that to submit this here only added the first 25 episodes (and rightfully so, for the second season gave me cancer).
rewatched the whole series. I now witnessed a lot more plot holes and saw how the writers desperately tried to plot the friendship between L and Light, but it is still an exciting show. You need to accept things, but in its best moments you can forget to breath. I will never forget the way Light writes his names down, the potato chip scene or when Light follows the woman of the FBI agent.
One of the most important works in my life. At odds with a lot of people I could care more for the early arc, although it is stellar - it is the back half (when the story skips a few years ahead) that is rarely off my mind, even 10 years later. I can think of very few works as tragic; the scope, the weight. The soundtracks by Hirano and Taniuchi are... absolutely peerless. Period. Forever.
Light went out like a pansy. I was especially engaged up until L was no longer in the picture. The last couple of episodes in the second half were also solid. Pretty boring for the majority of the second half of the series. Misa is the most annoying human ever.
3.5 stars. Death Note got to be one of the best story ever made, it's simply work on the main weakness of mankind: the judgement of their own rectitude. Sadly, it kinda tumbled down really fast on the post-L arc story—but still, one of the most satisfying bleak ending I ever watched.
