So if it's between your beloved lover/good man that does the moral & right thing (give the girl back to her biological mother) and the wrong ('right')/immoral thing (i.e. let her live with Morgan Freeman who wanted her to be but a 'replacement kid'), you walk out on him, 'cause you disagree on a philosophical level? Casey chose with his morals and ethics, thus you leave? Sour taste indeed. Monaghan & Affleck are ace.

A good effort from both Affleck brothers, and overall a well-executed, gritty (sort-of) procedural following a seemingly heinous crime in a blue collar Boston neighbourhood. Slick and almost documentary-like camera work, good performances, good pace, and enough crime and mystery to keep you interested. Main criticism here is the lack of real clues and hints, the crime is just solved in front of you all of a sudden.

Solid detective thriller with some great character work from an excellent cast. Ben Affleck shows that he can hold his own as a director, though he sometimes goes overboard with style at the expense of the story. Great dialogue and a taut pace, but it starts to fall into basic crime drama conventions after a while - even though it does have a strong ending.

Another great Dennis Lehane adaptation. Qualifying the question of right & wrong is given it's due weight here - not letting responsibility off the hook.

Quite an attempt at directing from Ben Affleck, not so bad.. The only disturbing thing was directing Casey Affleck as Ben, resulting lifeless,disturbing, stiff acting, as Ben usually does when he's on screen.

Ben Affleck's directorial debut is a nice, intimate little film noir with authentic characters and a stellar performance from his brother Casey. This film has great atmosphere.

Who would have guess that Ben Affleck is three times better as a director than an actor? I really liked this one and Ben's little brother shows that he is the superior actor in the family.
