Our take

A testament to Rossellini’s versatility, this transfixing diptych sees him direct two stylistically different showcases for Anna Magnani as star. Part One is based on Jean Cocteau’s play The Human Voice, recently adapted by Almodóvar, while Fellini has a story credit for the second, The Miracle.
