Our take

In this post-Nouvelle Vague, 70s-era film from Claude Sautet, Michel Piccoli navigates a mid-life crisis and, alas, ends up in the bed of the beautiful Mado. Paired with the wonderful Italian actress Ottavia Piccolo, Piccoli excels in this sad and sometimes thrilling depiction of unrequited love.
