One wonders at just the level of contempt the filmmakers had for their fans in making this bitchslap of a third installment. Devoid of laughs the franchise suddenly wants to be action oriented instead of comedic with just atrocious results. One or two chuckles (Ken Jeong) don't make a comedy. Even the coda just plays as desperate. Another entry for movie hell.
'Fuck!', 'This is insane!', 'What the FUCK is going on?'. There is your script for Hangover: Part III, ladies and gentleman. I was dragged to this by friends with a free ticket, and STILL demanded my money back. One of the laziest, most blatant cash-in jobs I can recall.
There's one point when watching Ken Jeong sing "Hurt" in a Tijuana karaoke bar that Bradley Cooper asks, "what the fuck am I watching?" While that was one of maybe a handful of giggles The Hangover Part III had to offer I can't help but feel that way through most of the movie. Still better than the second part but that's saying very, very little...
Too bad Phillips listened to people that hated the second. Never understood why people thought the first one was innovative, to me it was hilarious, but dumb. That's probably why I was able to enjoy the second while others couldn't stand it. But this movie doesn't even try. Just not funny, besides "Who gives a fuck, it's a giraffe" and the end credits.
The joke has irrevocably worn out. This time around, they even forgot to make a comedy but instead they went for a thriller that has a couple of jokes (all of which you can see by watching the trailer).
