समीक्षक के रिव्यू

It’s too repetitive and incoherent (and not in a good, fever-dreamy way) to be suspenseful. It’s more boring than horrifying to play spot-the-CGI ghoul in the background of all those greyscale frames

While not as urbane or colorful, the production has the occasional feel of a middle-range, semi-forgotten Hammer Films outing, filled with lore sure to please viewers eager to find out how World War II reopened a gateway sealed since the Dark Ages.

  • Palmat's rating of the film The Nun

An extremely tiring and second rate effort with recycled scares and sub par direction and writing resulting in a offensively boring film. I am not a fan of the Conjur-verse but found some of the movies quite effective. This is really scraping the bottom of the barrel and shows that not every idea James Wan has needs to be realized.

  • Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film The Nun

Thought this was going to be an origin story about the creepy nun character from The Conjuring 2, but it's actually just a third-rate horror movie with the same creepy nun character appearing as villain. Attempts to place the story into the Conjuring franchise feel cynical& unconvincing, as if done as an afterthought. Imagery is occasionally interesting, but can't transcend a lazy grab-bag of possession film clichés.

  • HKFanatic's rating of the film The Nun

While "The Nun's" attempts at atmospherics are frequently letdown by murky, washed out digital photography, there are enough startling visuals here—a snake emerging from a possessed boy's mouth, a skeletal Mother Superior, crucifix-lined crypts and fog-enshrouded abbeys—if you squint you can almost convince yourself you're watching a hackneyed American contribution to Dario Argento's "The Three Mothers" trilogy.

  • msmichel's rating of the film The Nun

Disappointing entry in the so-called 'Conjuring universe' that gives us an interesting turn by Tailla Farmiga but no real story or scares to hinge a film on. The chills are obvious and unoriginal and the film is sorely missing the sense of dread the two Conjuring pictures often offered.

  • Steve Pulaski's rating of the film The Nun

The "Conjuring" universe is quickly veering off into "Paranormal Activity" territory with too many tangential sequels/spin-offs to keep track off, most of which working to undermine the thoughtful original. "The Nun" is vapid in most aspects, with scant dread and lackluster pacing, making for an uninvolving frightfest. Don't know if it was the ugly visuals or my waning interest, but the exposition felt poor as well.

  • William R Clark's rating of the film The Nun

Three solid stars, which, in light of other critics' lamentations, indicates that I think this some sort of pinnacle of the modern horror genre. For that genre, The Nun has ridiculously expressive photography and - to my greatest delight - fun makeup. It may not be scary (that nun puts me to sleep), but it's perfectly over-the-top adventure horror, the Universal or Giallo mold.

  • Jasmina S's rating of the film The Nun

I can't say how much I'm disappointed. I heard from my friends that this movie is awesome, and so scary, best horror ever.. I need new friends... It is ridiculous. This movie is so "riddikulus", that if I'm ever in prof. Lupin's class, I'm going to turn my biggest fear into this.. I hardly moved during the movie, even with the overuse of jump scares , and didn't get any nightmares. Such a waste for Conjuring.

  • Roy Deckard's rating of the film The Nun

If someone told me to watch a folkloric, religious, supernatural horror movie with nuns that is set in a picturesque, atmospheric place like an abbey or a castle, I'd be like "Mothafucka u tryin' to gimme nightmares or something?". Having said that, this film sucks. Bravo! You wasted an exceptionally designed horror setting!
