Stemming from the operatic brutality of Spaghetti Westerns and the social commentary of zombie/cannibal holocausts, Castellari’s mini-epic is a hellborn demonstration of Italian genre cinema’s magnitude.
This is an awkward Italian mash-up of "Escape From New York" and "The Warriors." The main character is named Trash and is played by a 17 year-old bodybuilder with no previous acting credit. So, yes, you should see it.
Doing its' best to rip off 'The Warriors' and 'Escape from New York' this 82' Italian knockoff fails on a grand scale. The nearly nonsensical script and the amateur hour performances sink this film fairly quickly and one gets the most enjoyment from revelling in its deficiencies. Best is how just across the river NYC in this 'post-apocalyptic' time seems to be just going about its regular business.
Take the Warriors and Escape from New York add a dash of Road Warrior on top, then put em in a blender and filter through a shoestring budget giallo strainer - you'll get the Bronx Warriors. Batshit crazy early 80's Italian B movie with an amazing theme song. Highly recommended.
