This is probably Landis' best film in terms of craft and his cheeky, inspired use of pop music. The first act is absolute genre perfection, funny, atmospheric, climaxing in terror. Griffin Dunne makes the most memorable impression as an undead nag. Landis ambles from one self-indulgent set piece to another never forgetting the thrill of cheap. Rick Baker's in-camera effects have never been equaled. Flip and fun.
