Merhige claims that Begotten is being remastered in 4K and will be released on blu-ray in the near future. He also mentioned that the film will reveal details that weren't possible to see before and that all of the previous editions (on home video, older prints) don't do the images justice.
I can't wait to rewatch it.
A drive to unceasingly nurture the feeling of hope only suggests that the rejection of a fully accomplished becoming exists - a pathological clinging to doubts that is unconsciously nurtured to the same degree. So, it often happens that for the common person it is the aftermath of a tedious catastrophe simulacrum that makes space for the beauty of ordinary life; contrast triggered mostly by nihilistic bullocks ↓
i'm actually proud of myself for finally watching this film. i don't know what to think of it, other than the fact that i am disturbed (the fact that i watched this in the dark in complete silence also helps). i don't quite understand it, either. nonetheless, it was fun, weird fun.
This experimental feature has gained some cult status from reuse of its imagery in Shadow of the Vampire and Marylin Manson videos. Unfortunately it's one of those 'films' that should be seen on film, as the optical-printer post-production effects are based on the emulsion medium itself. Anyway, think a visceral and gory Kenneth Anger: Merhige is a religious relationship to cinema and this is his genesis story.-DiB
