Fahrenheit 11/9 Disutradarai oleh Michael Moore
Pop star recognizes pop star. When Moore’s targets were sequestered in ivory towers, his catapulted fireballs could do some real damage; as his targets have become fellow media darlings, the battle can’t help but seem feud-like, grudge-like, frankly more of a game than a battle.

11/9’s nadir is a segment replacing the audio in footage of Hitler speeches with Trumpisms voiced by an impersonator (it’s not Alec Baldwin–level bad, but it’s bad). In another ass-covering move, Moore includes a Yale professor who explains that while it is imperfect to compare the current situation to Nazi Germany, it is nonetheless useful.

The cut screened for me and other critics ended with a contrived but emotionally effective coup de théâtre that dares the viewer to call it cheap. But the more I flirted with the dare, the more plausible Mr. Moore’s dramatic speculation felt. He’s still got it in the showmanship department.

  • chanandre's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Calling it: Moore is better than Wiseman. Portrait of a monster while eating its young. Horror film of the year. Please Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Emma González please rise up and fast and create a third alternative to Dems and Reps and run for office in 2020. Moore floored everyone left and right, leaving no survivors. Emma González tears reminiscent of Falconetti's and Karina's. (To be continued)

  • Steve Pulaski's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Marketed as the most anti-Trump project since any of the number of protests that have swept the busy streets of America, Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 11/9" is more valuable and far-reaching. You can't thoughtfully condemn Donald Trump unless you take an honest look at the system that enabled and elected him, and that's what Moore does in an exhausting, occasionally sensationalist, but otherwise damning new film.

  • Matthew Martens's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Ambling, affable, slapdash--and less coherent than it thinks it is--Moore's latest is his loosest and least-surprising excoriation yet. I might say that you don't really need to see it to have seen it, except that it contains several passages--mostly related to the water crisis in Flint and the teacher strike in West Virginia--that struck me as relatively fresh, not to mention dead effective as fact-first agit-prop.

  • msmichel's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Moore examines the rise to power of Donald Trump and muses whether the people are slowly giving up their personal freedoms to a potential autocratic leader...or worse. Moore misses the mark more than he connects with this offering but his style of 'grassroots' filmmaking and use of clips does yield some upsetting and staggering footage at times. Underneath the bluster the real fear is evident.

  • Ghostman's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Moore's film is at its best when it is anti-authoritarian and/or satiric & at its weakest when it is pessimistic and defeatist. Moore is angry at the state of American politics & the corruption of our societal systems but is still trapped by a Neoliberal mindset; which at times suffocates him & the audience in a nihilistic hopelessness that is not constructive & is misanthropic. Still, very cathartic to watch.

  • Jason's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

I always plan to shrug off the next Michael Moore, and usually, having finally seen it, cannot. It was already clear from ROGER AND ME that these are essay films more than documentaries. Sure, he's no Chris Marker. He isn't even Adam Curtis. But Moore is addressing a very large audience in a way that strikes me as ultra shrewd. I cannot help but be fascinated by the semiotics of effective audio-visual rhetoric.

  • Z's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

Michael Moore is a confidence man, carnival barker of a filmmaker. I admire his hustle and showmanship. He has a fabulous talent for bullshit. That being said, the issues he deals with and advocates for in this film are urgent and need to be talked about. The Flint water crisis should be a national shame!

  • Duncan Gray's rating of the film Fahrenheit 11/9

More Moore: sometimes on-point, sometimes not, sometimes you scoff even when you agree. Even if the title is a too-cute pun, this is best seen as a temperature reading and diagnosis. It all turns scattershot, but in an age with no shortage of commentary on Trump, Moore's perspective adds value, even when the finale enters nightmare hysteria. His grandest hopes/fears have been wrong before—but maybe I'm an optimist.
