Onoff is a famous writer who hasn’t published any new books for quite some time and has become a recluse. When he is picked up by the police one stormy night, without any identification, out of breath and running madly, without clear memory of recent events, the Inspector is suspicious.

I just watched this movie the other night and I was very impressed. The ongoing rain, the dialogues, the actors (like Gérard Depardieu and of course Roman Polanski), the story itself - especially the end, that I really didn't expect - formed an amazing atmosphere. All this and above all the denouement of the story made this movie one of the best I've seen in a long time.
Simples, direto, bem finalizado. Perfeito!
So long since I’ve seen Depardieu and it’s a pleasure to watch him and Polanski duel in the darkness amid so much water. With every drop a memory is revealed and the mystery uncovered. A dark play in a box from which there is no escape. I thought of Hitchcock and Nicholas Roeg and even Ridley Scott as I watched. As different from ‘Cinema Paradiso’ as one could imagine.
Every damn time they had some sort of momentum, they got interrupted. Frustrating as an audience member considering it happens more than once. Also I won't ruin the twist but that it also frustrating. A dumb trope that pulls all of the stakes and danger out of what was happening in the rest of the movie.
