A veritable who's who of smart 30s character actors like Donnelly and Jenkins, and anchored by the great Robinson. This is almost like a gangster screwball comedy. All its missing is Lombard or Hepburn as a lead female. Was a blown away by the film? No, but it was fun and the ending scenes with the bumbling future son in law cop were particularly humorous. 3 stars
3.5 stars. I'm not a huge fan of Robinson, but it was satisfying to see him play a gangster from a different angle. It's the supporting characters who make the film, though. Harvey is hilarious as the poor confused son-in-law's dad and the gang of gangsters trying to fix the situation is just great.
