Much cheaper, shorter and certantly more powerful than Inception. The same idea, simpler film. Nolan didn't even had to use things from movies like The Matrix... nono, Doodlebug is original and unique.
This is one of those short films that you realize you're gonna say whoa at the end of it, and when the end happens, you say whoa, almost somewhat disappointed in your lack of surprise that you were surprised.
Someone on youtube said: Memento : A photograph within a photograph.
The Prestige : A diary within a Diary.
Inception : A dream within a dream.
The Dark Knight : Personality within Personality.
Doodlebug : If you know what I mean!
Perhaps the closest thing to a Christopher Nolan horror film where you can observe and analyse some of the elements familiar from his feature work: the role of time, the aspect of tension, the possibility of getting lost inside your personality/the life you are living/the dreams you are pursuing. A simple experiment encompassing the creative dilemmas of probably the biggest director in Hollywood today.
did anyone notice?
the time on the table clock was 9:40 at 49 secs and the time on the wall clock was 7:40 at 1:11 secs .
Mistake or oh well ...considering Nolan's usual style of playing with time and consciousness...
