Eastern and European elements meet in this elegant film that never forgets its Argentine roots. Among the inspired characters; poets, ladies men, and Melville-esque samurai-gunmen trying to revolt against corrupt invaders. All superbly shot in a thinly veiled Buenos Aires. A sleeper with great poetic ideas by no less than Borges himself. Worthy of discovery and praise.
Merely a whisper of resistance. The utter abscence of ideology strips of substance the allegory in this film but it was enough for the goverment to censore it and almost completely destroy it. That was the political weather. The potography Is awseome, it push the well known high contrast to the terrain of surrealism sometimes, and i like those brief moments of tendermess between this coarse, estoic, gallant latinos.
