Adapting Manuel da Fonseca’s classic novel, Sérgio Tréfaut travels back to impoverished 1950s Portugal for his sophomore feature. As much an investigation into the country’s class relations as a suspenseful whodunnit, Rage proves a staggering, desolate drama, reminiscent of the films of Béla Tarr.
