All movies are political, even ones that pretend otherwise. As much as I love Fight Club, I more likely to be friends with someone if they hate that film. I saw Children of Men four times in its theatrical run. It was on the third viewing that made me cry. The only other films to make me cry not based on historical tragedies are Sansho the Bailiff, Dancer in the Dark, and The Land Before Time.
Like a lifetime of viewing habits, this list is ever changing and growing. There are regions of global cinema I need to better immerse myself in. This page will be a continual work in progress.
