It’s been fun throughout this decade for films. It’s been quite a ride too. For myself, this decade is everything, it sets my present and it forms my future, this, in fact, goes for movies too. I always been a fan of movies, since I was a child my taste in them doesn’t change much. As a child, I always love hitchcock, now, it varies a bit, but still love hitchcock. To myself, a movie is most spectacular invention (after electricity, ofcourse), it can put imagination to life, it can tell the truth as equal as lies, it can be very bad, it can be very good. But one thing, it cause something to the ones whose seen them. That something is actually two things, called: emotions&thoughts. From sad to mad, from chills to thrills, from fears to tears, from laughter to drifter, and so on..
From 2000-2009, I have experienced lots of movies, and by that, lots of emotions. To cause such emotions, for myself, a film has to have a good story, well thought and well written, everything else other than that (such as: acting, cinematography, costume, make up, etc, etc) follows behind it (behind but doesn’t mean it’s not important, sometimes our ‘behind’ muffles us from the pain of falling, eh?). For the spirit of that I would like to quote Kubrick: If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.
Throughout this decade, my expectations on movies been satisfied, more or less. Although for the next decade I will quit my expectations and gonna start to hope. I personally hope that technology, will not destroy the essence of movie, its story and the emotions&thoughts it leave us afterwards. As Danny Boyle once said: It’s a good place when all you have is hope and not expectations.
And to begin another decade, I have prepared 50 films which satisfied me by emotions&thoughts it brought, and left me.Read less
