2018 — Not another, not another year's worth of film by Steve Pulaski
Some traditions never die, and this one has been going steady since 2013. For the sixth year in a row, I will catalog every film I watch in the calendar year on Mubi. Even though I highly doubt anyone keeps tabs or pays attention to these, it has been integral for me with scheduling my films, and it continues to be a rewarding experience. Here’s to Year 6 and another contrived title!

NOTE I: Some ongoing movie-watching events this month: “Woody Allen Mondays” (one Woody Allen film every Monday), “The Criterion Olympic Films Challenge” (watching all 53 movies included in Criterion’s “100 Years of Olympic Films” boxset), “Steve Pulaski Sees It” (movies requested by readers), and “The James Bond Movie-Challenge.” Potentially more to come.

NOTE II: Short films do count towards the final total for each month/the year end total. I do this for a couple reasons. For one, I recognize short films as productions that deserve to be reviewed. Secondly, by not counting short films for the final monthly/yearly total, you’re almost effectively writing off their existence and that you even bothered to watch them. On that basis alone, they should stand their ground and serve as something you watched during said month/year. Finally, there are a barrage of shorts/short film directors that I am personally exploring, so don’t think of the shorts as filler by any means. I’ve been perusing through the short filmography of Laurel and Hardy for nearly a year, I watch the Oscar-nominated Live Action/Animated short films each year. They’re for personal exploration, and benefit me as a film critic, and therefore, they will be counted.

NOTE III: “The Criterion Olympic Film Challenge” has been postponed indefinitely due to time constraints.
