This is a short and simple list of what I think are the best Sci-Fi films.
1. The Terminator. A not-so-subtle message that the future isn’t something that can be altered: it is what it is. Impressive visuals and a menacing, memorable terror in the T-800.
2. Seconds. The sad realization that even when given a second chance, there are people who will commit the same mistake — almost doomed, as such.
3. The Face of Another. Beautiful and experimental. Identity doesn’t necessarily change the person; a mask can only hide so much.
4.The Thing. Great exploration into paranoia and terror. The Thing IS anyone — even its staunchest detractors.
5. Solaris. Even if we encounter an alien force, there is no guarantee we can communicate with it. Knowing we aren’t alone is the first hurdle; making contact is the next.Read less
