though i first had the impression that i was going to watch a sort of a religious film (the first scene with the dinner drove me back to the image of The Lord’s Supper), the action takes on another rhythm, another direction. it could be about desolation, about cult and primitive living, about a Father who takes control of everything, about trying and wanting to escape, about fear and paranoia, about finding a real identity. great image and montage (very smart use of flashbacks that actually show us that the past is very present in Martha Marcy May Marlene’s mind). however, i’m not sure about the end, about the relation between the two… Read more
