Preponderences of Masterpieces Series: Why did these years happen? reasoning and rationales most welcome. whether this has something to do with my tastes (or everything, rather) on the one hand or a significance to world cinema on the other is up for debate, but these 1967 films are from the US, France and Japan only. availability in revivals and on DVD is no doubt a factor as well. but the question is here: as these three countries are widely regarded (along with probably Russia, Italy and Germany lesser extents) as the most influential countries cinematically, if not simply the greatest in film outputs, does anyone have a few masterpieces… Read more

oh, and by the way, Shohei Imamura’s jarring, unbelievably trying and brilliant “A Man Vanishes” ain’t available on this site. wtf.
