cinema in prose

by Love Walked In

‘Cinema in prose’ vaguely means a movie which simply consists of sequences of fragments of actions and events. This sounds true for Howard Hawk’s movies. I believe “Bringing Up Baby” basically exists for Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn to run and yell at each other.

The pictures in prose movies may look plain and less strong while the narrativity could be understated. There are not many close-ups so that the meaning is spread to be less psychological. ‘Plurality’ would be a key-word then some large ensemble plays are put in the list as well.
