Now more than ever, cinema seems an art without borders. The advent of streaming, birth of new film festivals and just ordering films online from different continents, makes this an exciting time to be alive for the international orientated film aficionado.

Most of us however, are still interested in particular regions or even countries. The smaller countries with fledgling
film industries generally tend to get overlooked. This list means to correct that, by offering a single film from every country in the world. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and literally everything in between.

The criteria of election were simple: preferably it had to be a film of some esteem, that maybe I’ve even wanted to see for quite some time. A film audiences or critics really connected to. But sometimes a lack of availability or choices even, meant I couldn’t always pick something with the highest critical acclaim. And last but not least: It had to be a film I hadn’t seen yet.
