Wings Of Desire / Wim Wenders / 1987 / Germany / Color, Black & White
Human problems such as fear of death, suicide, cry, search for feelings, loneliness, lack of desire and pleasure, war, life in different mentality, change, unforgettable past, trouble, pain, and anger are all parts of this extraordinary film of beautiful and imaginative thoughts. This film is a happiness like a song, a never ending survival, a cleanliness of one’s heart, witnessing the inner nothing, temptation of goodness, and remembering the childhood. The dark and light line makes a fine line, also the differences of everyone explains more to life than just life itself, and also the excitement of finding the unknown reality. “Wings Of Desire” is a love story of a fine line between loneliness and happiness, eternity, peaceful, age, and decision. Wim Wenders created the most far-fetched film-making experience of all statement of human details. A masterpiece with the composition of connection and infinite lives of human being.
The Royal Tenenbaums / Wes Anderson / 2001 / United States / Color
To overcome the difficulties of the family, Royal Tenenbaum (Hackman), tries to get everyone together in his home to have what he did not cherish. The disasters of each individuals are very moving, but allows some happiness to erase some memories that causes imagination of accomplishment by trial and error. I personally think that this film is Anderson’s third best, behind (Bottle Rocket, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou).
It Happened One Night / Frank Capra / 1934 / United States / Black & White
The smartest, funniest, and loveliest romantic comedy film of all time in my opinion is Frank Capra’s “It happened one night.” People might not agree with me on this one but I really adored this movie. It’s actually the first movie ever to win the five major academy awards in 1934 as you’ll see on the synopsis. Very mature kind of humor is what makes this film great. Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert were amazing in this movie. Well it shows why because they won the academy awards for their roles. One of Capra’s most personal work because of its difficulties throughout the making of this film. It’s a must see, must have movie in your collection. “It happened one night,” still shines ever since its released.
The Darjeeling Limited / Wes Anderson / 2007 / United States / Color
A unique experience through a different setting allows us to view “The Darjeeling Limited” in a normal pace that does not interrupt in any way possible with our body and mind. The cleanliness of the picture from Wes Anderson shows how unique of a director he is, and the talent of the direction can arguably be called “Modern,” but stays in its purpose to present the brilliance of its master. An Anderson masterwork!
Shutter Island / Martin Scorsese / 2010 / United States / Color
A masterpiece! Powerfully moving, gut-wrenching, melancholy and with intense anguish and sorrow . Scorsese hit a home run again. Shutter Island is up there and should be up there with “Goodfellas,” “Taxi Driver,” and “Raging Bull.” Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance was wrenched out of place pensive way, but in a beautiful fashion. The supporting casts were admirably fine and excellent. Hands down, one of the best, if not the most extraordinary film about twisted understanding. Superb film-making of a legend, this film illustrates how perilous a tragedy can cause a man’s life with overpowering force that winds the mind together.
Bottle Rocket / Wes Anderson / 1996 / United States / Color
I have to say that “Bottle Rocket” is one of my favortie films of the 90’s. I have seen this movie plenty of times and i have to say that I loved it ever since the first time I seen it. Give Wes Anderson kudos for making this film appreciated by many. The Wilson brothers’ career got expanded on and on after this messy kind of masterpiece from Anderson. This is a must have for anyone who loves a very direct comedy. The humor is in the entirety of the film and it’s a very solid tight picture for a screw-ball comedy. A fantastic piece of art from Wes Anderson. Awesome movie!
Burn After Reading / Coen Brothers / 2008 / United States / Color
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton are terrific in this comedic masterpiece from the Coen Brothers. “Burn After Reading” is a “Fargo-esque” film
- the brain of the picture. The disaster and fight for survival plays a big role because that’s how the “crazy story” of this film started. Laugh out loud film. This is the Coen Brothers at their best!
Tuileries / Coen Brothers / 2006 / France, Switzerland / Color
Steve Buscemi could not have been any better to play this character. He minimizes the large problem of his situation by just floating with the flow of his position. He becomes attached in the collision between a young couple after committing an uncomfortable progress towards the already difficult problem. The Coen brothers really did a great job on this film. Full of energy and warmheartedness.
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou / Wes Anderson / 2004 / United States / Color
Colorful masterwork from Wes Anderson with witty dialogue and an amazing casts. Anderson and Murray created another quirky superlative piece of art that explodes with so many great visuals. This film could not be any better because of its freshness and the beautiful modern language that spreads all over each scene.
Rushmore / Wes Anderson / 1998 / United States / Color
Anderson’s second film, definitely one of his best,—- masterfully portrays the adolescent age in reality. Anderson crafted this film precisely, that the audiences will notice how unique his talents are. The beautiful images are ravishing, and you can almost take each scene and make it a photograph collage. Murray at his melancholy-best, Schartzman is terrific, and Anderson does what he’s good at, and that’s making a piece of film jewel.
My Blueberry Nights / Wong Kar-Wai / 2007 / Hong Kong, China, France / Color
A movie that shows more images than dialogue in an artistic direction by Wong Kar-Wai. The film’s visionary images captures the audience’s attention in a slow, chill, and melodramatic way. Wong Kar-Wai uses musicians more often than real life actors for his pictures because he believe they obtain unique talents. My Blueberry Nights’ emotional feelings not only capture character’s sacrifices, but also love and second chances as well. I very well recommend this movie to anyone who loves music. Well, who doesn’t? It’s in my collection. A tasty movie!
