That’s a highly subjective genre where I’ll try to put some films that gave a similar feeling which I’m not sure how I can describe it precisely yet.
Films where the filmmaker puts his characters in a world where the realism is secondary and resemble a miniature, a playground or a doll house, to get closer to the reality.
Another way to express it would be to say the filmmaker tries to play with his characters to explore a world oscillating between various degrees of reality and illusion. These worlds can overlap several categories such as real, faked, artificial, superficial or surreal.
These films often appear very simple or even simplistic in how they represent the world and the characters involved in it. But when you take a closer look, behind this facade, they are like labyrinths that makes possible to perceive or interpret the film in many ways in an almost musical experience.
