Notes: Edward Dmytryk seriously came to my attention when I saw The Sniper (1952). He was blacklisted during the McCarthy era and later renounced communism. Later in life, he was a teacher at UCLA and University of Texas at Austin. He also wrote several books whose subjects include filmmaking, directing, and editing.
