On the western side, the requiems for a long lost romanesque idea of Europe and “America” civilizations, and its stone solid cultural margins – this was the decade when a movie like “Shoah” was made: the Claude Lanzmann’s 9 hours testament about the Holocaust and the absolute horror that civilized Europe made possible, less than 70 years ago; on the eastern side, the revelations of something undiscovered and unconquerable and this is the best new thing in Cinema, the visibility of the Other: from South Korea to Iran, from China to Taiwan, the thrill was about to start and expand in the following decades.
