It can be the emotional weight of knowing Charles Foster Kane’s secret or seeing the brute Zampano crumble beneath the weight of his wrenching loneliness. The endings that have a haunting quality are those that complete a story but often leave things unresolved for a movie’s characters and those out in the dark who have somehow identified with them.
