Here is yet another list of some of my favorite films from another favorite genre. There are many films on this list that are NOT “Heroic Bloodshed” films; hence the “Other Favorites Of Hong Kong Cinema” portion of the list’s name. As with all my lists, outside of the first dozen titles, or so, the numeric rankings are random, or arbitrary. And as with all my other lists, there are several titles that are not in MUBI’s database that I would have placed on my list. >>One film I want to mention in particular is O Sing-Pui’s GOLDEN SWALLOW (1987). It isn’t in MUBI’s database. If it were I would have it somewhere in or near my Top 20 on this list. The film is often dismissed as a CHINESE GHOST STORY knock-off, or wannabe, but I happen to like it infinitely more than the film it is supposedly an imitation of. Good stuff!
