My cabinet

This is my DVD collection hidden inside a cabinet in my room. I store them alphabetically by the title written on the covers. Boxsets and such I place at the very end. - - I started buying DVDs a few years ago just for the sake of owning them. I did a lot of cheap blind buys in addition to collecting movies I had already seen and liked. Most of them were American mainstream dramas and thrillers. I started buying DVDs a few years ago just for the sake of owning them. I did a lot of cheap blind buys in addition to collecting movies I had already seen and liked. Most of them were American mainstream dramas and thrillers.

Later on I started focusing on “smaller” movies from Asia and Europe. It was then when I became aware of the possibilities of what a movie can be and started growing enthusiasm towards cinema not only as entertainment but as an art form.

My collection has been growing ever since. Just lately I’ve bought director boxsets such as Godard and Melville and other gems recommended by friends of mine. I do own a lot of films I wish I didn’t (such as Devil Wears Prada and i,Robot) but they’re there to help if I start to lose perspective.
