Well, as my profile probably shows, I’m fairly new to this site, and so I understand that this list will change as I start to delve deeper and deeper into the realm of independent films. So I’ve decided not to remake the list every time, but to edit this one and catalog the changes as updates so I can see how my tastes has changed from here onward. As of right now, the list is as follows:

The best way to explain exactly why I chose these movies are not because I think each one is as big of an artistic statement over the other. I don’t think that one genre of movie is better than any others. I just (within the confines of the genre) enjoyed these movies much more than others. I don’t usually like rewatching movies that I’ve seen before. I like the surprise and impression of seeing something for the first time. So these are movies that I’ve seen and would watch over and over and over until my eyeballs fall out. That’s the best way to describe why I put these up here. I like very visually-stimulating movies. Movies with lots of color and an ethereal presence to them such as the Fountain, Pan’s Labyrinth and even Perfume.

As of 8/3/2010 the list reads:
1.The Fountain
2.Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
3.Pan’s Labyrinth
4.There Will Be Blood
5.Wall-E
6.Days of Heaven
7.Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
8.Hot Fuzz
9.Amelie
10.Big Fish
