My Favorite Comedies

I do not believe in “Greatest (fill in the blank)” lists. It is futile to argue the merits of Citizen Kane v. Vertigo. They are both great films as many others are and deserve their place in the vast pantheon of film. So, I can only laud those films which are great, and/or at least great to my heart.

I tend towards more traditional comedy. The South Park mentality is fine in short bursts but rarely makes cohesive entertainment in long stretches for me. In other words I tend to be very old-fashioned when it comes to what keeps my attention and makes me laugh. Some of these films are truly great, while others just hold a special place for me.
