I am going to try to numerically rank my personal favorites from the 2012 Mubi World Cup. Obviously this will just be a jumbled clusterfuck of a list of my favorites until the cup is complete and i can rank the films accordingly. [2/11] So far i have watched 7 of the 10 announced films for the cup and most of them have been outstanding. Czech’s Happy End stands out as the most unique film i’ve watched so far in the cup, as well as in general. Its absurdity is a style all its own but echoes Bunuel, Svankmajer, and Dali. It’s one of the most bizarrely indescribible films i’ve had the pleasure of watching. Turkey’s Egg stands out currently as my favorite film i’ve watched so far in the match, as well the one i consider to be the most superior. Iran’s The Runner I thought was awful and was not impressed the least bit by.
