The maker of two masterpieces but the rest range from solid to damn right awful.
Blade Runner plays to my tastes to a tee. Firstly it is a gorgeous looking science fiction film, beating only in looks by 2001:A Space Odyssey but its also a perfect example of neo-noir film making. Combined with its dreamy atmosphere it’s just cinematic perfection in my eyes.
Alien really laid down the marker for science fiction films of the future and it’s influence is still being felt today. A perfect build-up of tension dominates this film and it grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go. It’s gooey goodness with the ultimate heroine at the forefront in the shape of Sigorney Weaver.
