Called the “Spanish Méliès,” Segundo de Chomón often aped his more famous French counterpart, but he developed a unique, more intimate style during a directorial career that ran roughly from 1902 to 1911, minus some later efforts and visual effects work on big films like Abel Gance’s NAPOLEON (1927).
