My list of 25 films by Steven Spielberg that I have seen over the years, in order of Best to Worst. The last one on the list that I really enjoyed watching was #16, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, so anything after that I didnt like at all. And yes, I absolutely HATED “E.T. The Extra Terrestrial” with a passion, I thought it was a cheezy attempt to combine the last 5 minutes of “CE3K” with Lassie. Call me a cynic (which I am), but that could very well be THE most overrated film of all time. Im including “Poltergeist” because even though it was technically directed by Tobe Hooper, its always been obvious from watching it that the rumors about Spielberg being responsible for most of the film’s visual power are true. Tobe was good at Texas Chainsaw, but he didnt make Poltergeist into the eye-popping visual masterpiece that it is. Spielberg’s visual fingerprints are all over it, so Im calling it a Spielberg film.
