Films featuring musical scores by Jon Brion: He is my favorite composer, starting when I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Magnolia around the same time. I have since seen all of the feature films he’s has scored. I’ve also enjoyed the records he’s produced for Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, himself and other artists. He didn’t do the music for Funny People (Jason Schwartzman did a great job with that), but he did appear as a member of the band when Adam Sandler’s character sings “Real Love.” He also appeared as a band member in Boogie Nights and had a couple songs on its soundtrack. I really want to see the 2008 documentary Largo, named for and featuring a concert venue where he frequently performs in L.A.
