Contemplative Science Fiction

I was talking with a friend a little while ago who expressed a general dislike of the sci-fi genre. Her image of science fiction was Star Wars, and nothing more. Aliens and laser guns. Since there’s obviously a BIT more to the genre than that, I’ve compiled a list (in no particular order) of what I consider some of the more thoughtful and maybe intellectually ambitious examples to give her an idea.
