Having at last gotten around to seeing Boomerang, A Face in the Crowd, and the Visitors, I have ammended this list twice since its inception. I removed On the Waterfront, despite its many excellent qualities. I can’t bring myself to remove The Last Tycoon, even knowing that it was more or less disowned by Kazan. I like it just the same, especially for the performances of Robert De Niro, Tony Curtis, Robert Mitchum, Theresa Russell, Anjelica Huston, Ingrid Boulting and Ray Milland, for its critical yet romantic view of the studio system and the omnipresent Monroe Stahr (so far from the actuality of his model, the despicable Irving...
