Deep in the heart of Castell Coch, not far North of Cardiff, unbeknown to its visitors, within an intricate system of hidden tunnels, doorways and ancient stairways, is a capsule, a capsule gleaming in purple and gold, a capsule that contains films intended to represent the Earth for future humankind and any extra-terrestrial beings that may already be or become aware of our existence. These are the films selected by a small secret sect of committed cinephiles which is thought to have included over several decades Jean Cocteau, Eric Rohmer, Raul Ruiz, Ray Durgnat and Peter Greenaway. It is rumoured that the great Pakistan cricketer Majid Jahangir Khan was also surprisingly involved during his time in Wales. Representing a mix of the best of cinema achievement, what earth and humans are like, and films that may interest or appeal to aliens.
