The Wacky, The Wild, and the Unconventional: Weird West

A selection of films regarded as part of the ‘Weird West’ genre. In no particular order.

It’s a very loose classification and I’ve considered a ‘Weird West’ entry to be one of four things:

1. A typical Western setting which deals with atypical themes (example: Brokeback Mountain)
2. A film which does not have a typical Western setting but deals with typical Western themes (example: Young Ones)
3. A typical Western setting told in an atypical style (example: The Hateful Eight)
4. A film which blends the Western genre with another (example: Bone Tomahawk)
