I believe that musicals offer a wonderful escape, yet often undergo a negative stigma. Storytelling through the medium of music is beautiful, and it only makes sense for a character to express their joy or suffering through music. Though people rarely break out into song in public places, cinema overall is, for the most part, unrealistic as well. I suppose I romanticize musicals as a form of escapism, but it is a truthful one at best.
