These are some of my favorite films released in the US from 2000-2009. It was an interesting cinematic decade of transition, new auteurs and of course, the digital sea change. There are still many consensus “best of the decade” films I haven’t seen, and others I need to revisit, but here’s a collection of noteworthy ones I enjoyed.
I’ve left off short films, for no real good reason, otherwise A Letter To Uncle Boonmee would be in the top 10 and Worldly Desires and Heart of the World would be somewhere in here as well. (The Secret in Their Eyes and Our Beloved Month of August are considered 2010 films.)
