Blake Edwards United Kingdom, 1964

jhubbs's rating of the film A Shot in the Dark

Tighter, and funnier, than its predecessor. Sellers adopts his loony French-iest accent. Dreyfus, Kato, and many other series staples are introduced. Cartoon is more mildy amusing than actually funny. Opening sequence is simply stunning, by any artistic standards! Memorable score. Some jokes don't hold up (nudist camp, silly slapstick), but most hit (police car whirring by!). Sticks ending. 100% holds up 3.75
