The intro is bombastic and the credits are melancholic. This small detail is symptomatic of the show itself. Despite its reputation as a pulpy adventure show, the reason people keep returning to this masterpiece is because of its lost souls that are akin to Wong Kar-Wai's characters. You come to it for episodes like Mushroom Samba but you return to it for Ballad of Fallen Angels and The Real Folk Blues.
This is the BEST anime series that I watched, hands down. It blurred existing boundaries on genres with a bit of action, film noir, and comedy all blended into one masterpiece. By touching on multiple philosophical themes such as man’s search for meaning, identity, memory, abandonment, and even mental health, this show really packs a punch. Ah, the excellently curated soundtrack album of jazz fusion songs is a bonus.
the cool style and music of the show grabs your attention right away. But it's the stories that make cowboy bebop great. Each episode has it's own unique commentary on some aspect of life, society or technologies effect on society... while also subtly revealing more and more about each bebop crew member's. Each member having something to deal with from their past that affects their outlook on life and people
