Our take

In his only work of nonfiction to date, Thomas Arslan leaves Germany to travel across Turkey, making a pilgrimage that speaks to his family history. As the filmmaker looks laconically at the country’s various crowds and landscapes, he moves beyond autobiography to consider the character of a nation.
